The Adventures of Party Girl and Growling Boy

Leila's 3rd birthday party was a total success!  With a smaller group (including out-of-towners Oma, Papa Chuck, and Auntie Lauren) and no Elmo appearance, Leila was in her element, dancing, singing, enjoying friends and family, and of course eating.  We started the day with her favorite breakfast at Egg Harbor (pancakes, eggs, and most importantly sausage), followed by hanging out at the park fountain.

Later, as the party was about to begin, a crazy storm rolled in and forced us inside.  It turned out perfect though as we decided to open presents first, while we ate some of Leila's favorite appetizers (guacamole, chips, and potstickers.)  The party continued as Leila, Chloe, and Rowan made tiaras, danced, and played pin the frog on the princess.  The sun eventually came out and we all enjoyed a ridiculous amount of pizza (we ordered enough for triple the amount of people!), then sang "Happy Birthday" to a beaming Leila, and had cake and ice cream with lots of toppings.  Leila seemed to truly enjoy every minute of her party.

Best birthday ever!!!

Leila's party has really continued all week so far because of all the people in town visiting, so we've been doing special things each day.  Meanwhile, though Leila has been the focus of our partying, Natey has plenty to celebrate too.  Just as he turned 10 months (holy cow!), he started walking with the help of a walker!  He has also gain other skills like clapping to music, pointing to things he wants, and growling...lots of growling.   I forgot how much I love this age because of all the discovery and rapid changes in development.  I remember thinking it was kind of like a light switch being turned on, and that's just what seems to have happened in my Bubs.

Besides the big party, the adventures continue...
