Thankfully, we've been healthy and therefore, busy these past couple of weeks.
As Leila enters the last two months of her first year in preschool, I am amazed at how much she has grown over these past several months. We just had our first parent/teacher conference last week and hearing from her teacher how much she has blossomed into an independent, confident, friendly classmate and student made Matt and I so proud. Not only has she socially come out of her shell, she is soooo dang smart! She has a huge vocabulary and uses it very well to tell lots of stories...I don't know where she comes up with her plots, but she really has some great ones. She can also memorize a book read to her after about 4 readings, and loves "reading" those books to anyone who will listen. She can write her name, several letters of the alphabet, draw faces, and is pretty much always down for an art project of any kind. I'm sure I'm forgetting a handful of other things she can do, but long story short, she continues to amaze me and make me proud!
Natey boy also has me surprised everyday. At his age (nearly 18 months now!) it seems he has a new skill, new word, or new interest daily. He really tries talking constantly and has about 20 words that I can understand. Some of the most common ones are: Mama, Dada, book, ball, snack, touch, more, please, and spin. He is so freakin' cute trying to communicate, but often gets frustrated when we don't understand. He is totally obsessed with dancing to "Gangnam Style," loves books, playing dollhouse, spinning, and eating snacks. He is kind of a rough and tough little guy; loving to pull hair, bite, wrestle, and throw himself off furniture. But also such a sweetie; always quick to give kisses, and hug any animal he see in print, stuffed, or real. He is still putting most things in his mouth, but maybe it's due to the fact that he has SIX teeth coming in at one time!!!
I am so enjoying each of their current phases and look forward to Spring and all the adventures that await us! Now, onto our last set of pictures from (yucky) Winter...
Leila had the chance to sing at church with some of her classmates and, although you can't really tell from her expression, she really enjoyed herself!
(She's peering around the shoulder of the girl in the green...)
Happy to be back in Daddy's arms for the rest of the service
And Bubba, he's just getting wackier, cuter, and more fun/challenging every day!
Matt and I spontaneously enjoyed a day out celebrating St. Patrick's Day thanks to Ama and Papa! While we threw back a few Jamesons, the kids were enjoying a trip to their favorite ice cream place...
Such a Bubba face...
Pure joy
Our annual St. Paddy's day picture is usually taken in AZ, but this year we were still chillin' (literally) at home. ...
My beauty
Bubs first beer
Celebrating like a real gangsta with green milk
When you can't get outside to play for months, the mall seems like a fun way to spend a Saturday! Leila literally ran to this store shen she saw all the "beautiful dresses." This one was her favorite...
Another indoor activity to keep us busy...the water table at the Children's museum.
When we get really bored, I end up making up strange activities such as this one that involved pulling the kids around on a blanket. They only look upset here because I paused for a moment to take the picture.
Look who else has become a big fan of rice...
he decided to go straight to the take-out box and eat it by the handful.
Best cowlick on the cutest boy ever.
Its amazing that just last summer everyone was prepping Lou Lou to go to school... and now she's done with her first year! Crazy... Can't wait to soak in those kids in just a few months!
